A sculptor from Nagaland has carved out an incredible panoramic village scene on a wooden table, complete with huts, waterfall, lights, a bridge and, a gushing waterfall and a stream flowing into a container.
Ningwon Zingkhai, popularly known as a potter, recreated the life-like panoramic scenes on a single block of wood that was fashioned into a glass top dining table.
Zingkhai said he spent over a year in completing the wooden table at his house at Darogojan on the outskirts of Dimapur, reported ANI.
"I did not have any idea about what he was doing before. As a wife, I used to complain of working for so long and never completing his work. We are not financially sound and needed money for our family needs," said Zingkhai’s wife, Sopem, told the news agency.
Zingkhai provides for his family with the small income he makes from the sale of pottery items. For his dining table work, he had borrowed a 7x4 feet wood block from a friend with a promise to pay him back after completion of the work.
Little did he know that his hard-work would receive country-wide appreciation.
He spent a year's time and about Rs 1.70 lakh in creating the village landscape on the table. However, there is still no prospective buyer for it.
