Tottenham open talks to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in £55m summer transfer
Sep 23, 2020
Tottenham are interested in signing Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar, according to reports.
The £55million-rated Slovakia defender is believed to be high on Jose Mourinho’s wish list as he hopes to further strengthen his defence.
Tottenham have already brought in two defenders this summer, adding Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon from Wolves and Real Madrid respectively.
After starting in the opening day loss to Everton, Toby Alderweireld was dropped for Sunday’s 5-2 win over Southampton for Davison Sanchez.
And Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Tottenham have opened talks with Inter over bringing Skriniar to north London.
There was talk of a potential swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele, but there is now ‘no chance’ of that happening.
Tottenham have opened talks for Milan Skriniar as possible target. He's one of Mourinho's fav options as new centre-back [no more chances for a swap deal involving Ndombele]. Price tag is the main issue: Inter have asked €60m to sell Skriniar. ⚪️ @DiMarzio @SkySport #THFC #Inter — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 22, 2020
Skriniar made 42 appearances as Inter reached the Europa League final last season.
Mourinho, known for his defensive prowess, has struggled to solve Tottenham’s woes at the back since replacing Mauricio Pochettino last November.
