Chocolate drinks such as Milo, This Way, Richoco, Chocolim, Miksy, etc are undoubtedly among the topmost loved chocolate drinks for breakfast in the majority of Ghanaian homes.
It is hardly missing on the shelves of provision shops as their lovers will always come asking for them.
I am a lover of chocolate drink and it is the first option on my list. My love for it grew more after a trip to Keta in the Volta Region of Ghana.
As part of the servings for our breakfast, it was my favourite drink but this time around, it came with a different aroma and taste; the secret was lemongrass.
How possible? I didn't understand how it was achieved because I made the drink myself and so out of curiosity I asked. It was lemongrass that was added to the boiled water due to its health benefits to the immune system.
Since then lemongrass has been part of my shopping list and it's not missing in my kitchen.
After boiling the water, I add a reasonable amount of lemongrass to the water.
I leave it for about 15 minutes to allow it to release its colour and flavour in the hot water.
I then pour it on my chocolate drink. I usually don't add sugar because most of the chocolate drink powder has a good amount of sugar.
If you don't want your lemongrass dried, freeze the fresh one but the dried one also gives same result.
Here some health benefits of lemongrass
It's Good for Digestion, full of antioxidants, regulates High Blood Pressure, boosts Metabolism and Burns Fat.
It is also good for beauty as it is naturally great skin and hair.
